The DMV’s next hot magazine for artists and activists
The Commune, created by Brandan Leigh and Kintsugi Kelley-Chung, is a biannual magazine that highlights artists and activists engaging and supporting their communities in unique, DIY, fashions.
Vol. 1 focuses on some of the DMV area’s top upcoming artists making waves and establishing strong avenues for themselves and their fellow artists. Unlike most magazines, The Commune prides itself in an avant-garde take on community storytelling that emphasizes the connection between the artists and their communities in a stream-of-consciousness flow that highlights how everyone’s stories overlap. Between intimate interviews and coverage of events, The Commune offers a strong glimpse into the lives of these grassroots legends in the making.
Two Ways to Engage
We’re offering the magazine for free via digital download, and also through a limited edition print for our die-hard supporters!
We are only printing 50 copies and selling 48 (We’re keeping two for ourselves). All prints purchased during our pre-sale are signed and numbered by the creators. If we sell out during our pre-sale, we may double our print order, so cop one for yourself and tell a friend to cop one too! Save $10 on the print by pre-ordering today.
If you’re only looking for the digital download version, but would still like to support us financially, feel free to donate using the button below. Choose from one of our tiered options starting at $1.
Also, join us for our release party on December 17th! Meet the people featured in the magazine, support them directly by purchasing their work at the event, network with other dope creatives in the area, and enjoy a concert composed of the talented musicians we’ve highlighted. More details soon to come.
